Case Studies

D.T. Gruelle  is a part of the International Trade and Logistics Management Services (ITALMS) group of companies and has been in business since 1983.

We are a fully private firm and pride ourselves on conservative finances resulting in a very strong balance sheet. We have the working capital available at anytime to meet our client’s dynamic and ongoing obligations to US Customs, Steamship Lines, domestic and international vendors and many other governmental and non-governmental organizations.

D.T. Gruelle sets itself apart by offering far more than just “shipping”. Insurance, banking, FOREX trading & assistance, letter of credit creation and collection, custom packaging, compliance training and C-TPAT certification and training are just a few value added services our clients receive when using our dedicated and custom solutions.

Contract Ongoing since 2004- Specialty Steel to Eastern Europe

A large US Based steel manufacture contracted with D.T. Gruelle in 2004 to begin the distribution and supply chain set up needed to provide 3 new Eastern European factories with the “raw” steel they needed for alloy input production. D.T. Gruelle  was selected out of 20 qualified shipping vendors for our service and knowledge beyond the tradition skill set of our competitors. What was most compelling to the executive’s decision was our strong commitment to pre-pay all associated charges, taxes, duties, fees and other expenses on behalf of our client for 30 days. This translated into a capital commitment of $500,000.00 every thirty days for our firm, but relieved our client of multiple transactions, administration and conservation of working capital. Also, we have proved to be a critical bridge between their US and Eastern European offices in terms of solidification of the supply chain and insuring its smooth operation. The volume which this client ships is ten 40 foot high cubes per week; our annual savings in terms of eliminating fees such as storage and demurrage total over $190,000.00 USD per year over their previous solution.

October 2009 – January 2010- Shipping  Sand to the Desert

We received the award for a 125 container project for the transportation of water purification sand to Libya from our client’s US based supplier. The geo-political conditions on the ground in Libya are still very delicate and the letter of credit and all associating documentation had to be 100% discrepant free. The US State department and the Secretary of State herself had to sign off on our shipping documents.  This was a clean technology and infrastructure based project which relied upon set time frames with small 12- 24 hour windows for loading and product receipt in Libya. We inherited a project that was already $50,000.00 USD over budget and have been able to narrow that gap by keeping and exceeding our budgetary parameters in terms of client savings.

January 2002 through Present- Gas Valves from France

A European based manufacture of underground gas valves needed a US based logistics company to create and support an ongoing supply chain to facilitate its multiple clients in the USA. D.T. Gruelle  won this contract and has provided a solution for this manufacture which pre-custom clears the needed product and delivers valves to their clients on a just in time inventory basis. This company has reduced their annual logistics expenditures by over $100,000.00 USD by utilizing this customized solution and decreased delivery times by 3- 6 days.

February 2010 –May 2010- Ft. Knox to Manila

D.T. Gruelle was contracted by the Philippine Government’s direct attaché for Military procurement to facilitate and execute upon the shipping of 240 US made military vehicles from Ft Various locations inside the USA to Manila. Again, time sensitive documentation, Department of defense licenses, proper planning, security, insurance and heightened protocol are needed for a successful transit.  These vehicles are moving via rail and Roll on Roll off vessels. Much like your own product, timing, budgetary standards and smooth operation of multiple parties is critical to the coordination and success of such a move. We kept within the Philippine Government’s budget parameters and are currently executing upon said contract.
